How to avoid being manipulated when navigating social media

It is important to not let yourself get manipulated by something that is not real because it can affect the way you think and see things. When you get manipulated you fall for something that might or might not be true and you are letting someone else control your thoughts. This usually happens when people want other people to be in their favor like for example: politics. There are so may different ways to avoid getting manipulated so here are some: 

First you have to consider the source, If you have never in your life seen that website you can tell it is fake but if you know it is a common useful website, then you are on the right track. 

A very important way is to check the date, the date it was published can tell you a lot wether to use that information or not. If you are looking for something recent but the article is from a few years back, you know for sure that is not the information you are looking for.

Read more about the author is also very helpful. By reading about the author you can tell if he is experienced or not. If you bump into an article in which the author is not mentioned it is best to not use it. On the other hand, if it is by a popular creator who has written many articles, it is safe to say that it is an article you are looking for. 

Pay attention to quality and timeliness. The quality of the work says everything, If it is an article that is very unprofessional or not organized enough, it is safe to say that it is not and article you want to be reading. 

The most important one is look for opinions. If an article contains opinions, you do not want to use it as a good source. A persons opinion is not safe at all because the only thing that persons trying to do is convince you of something which could or could not be real.

All these steps are going to help you control your thoughts without anyone coming into guide or change them. This doesn’t always mean that you are 100% that you will always avoid them because sometimes they can seem pretty real.
